The 2025 Toyota GR86 in Calgary, Alberta continues to honour the spirit of the fun-to-drive, sporty AE86 Toyota Corolla’s of the 1980s. The championship Toyota GAZOO Racing team was behind engineering a pure adrenaline-infused vehicle that offers greater curve-hugging precision as well as improved stability, power, and aerodynamics. The Toyota GR86 is available in manual or automatic Base or Premium options that are sure to put a large grin on your face as you accelerate down the straits or cruise down scenic roads.
Engineered for pure performance.
At the heart of the Toyota GR86 is an all-new 2.4L horizontally opposed 4-cylinder boxer engine that pumps out 228 horsepower with 20% more engine displacement than its predecessor. The bigger engine also boasts improved zero-to-100 km/h times from 7.2 to 6.3 seconds for the MT and from 8.2 to 6.8 seconds for the AT, as well 184 lb.ft. of torque at 3,700 rpm. Toyota’s D-4S dual injection technology is retuned to deliver a more aggressive throttle input, providing a cooling effect in the cylinders, which allows the engine to use a very high 12.5:1 compression ratio for maximum power.

The Gazoo Racing engineers constructed the Toyota GR86 with a weight-saving aluminum roof and front fenders. The Base grade weighs in at only 1,275 kg for the MT (1,293 kg for the AT), making it among the lightest sportscars on the market. The combination of 53:47 front:rear balance, a low-slung 1,311 mm overall height, and a compact flat-four boxer engine gives GR86 all the right ingredients for firmly planted handling and a low centre of gravity that guarantees maximum fun. The double wishboned rear suspension and stabilizer bars allow smooth wheel travel to help sharpen turns and enhance grip over uneven surfaces, while the Torsen® Limited-Slip Differential helps improve low-end acceleration by automatically distributing power to the wheel that needs it.

From its aerodynamic shape, shark skin-inspired moulded front bumper, air curtain, duck bill spoiler, wheel arch fins, and air outlets, every aspect of this sporty coupe was meticulously engineered to reduce drag, improve performance, and enhance fuel efficiency. The Toyota GR86’s f latter torque curve keeps G-forces on tap as you accelerate, giving you a more usable powerband as you reach 184 lb.ft. of peak torque, planting you in your seat.
